Tom Henslee - Partner: Tom's legal career migrated into the club law arena in 1989. Over the years, Tom had his own law firm focusing on club law as well as working as General Counsel, EVP, of ClubCorp. While the resume leads with a background in real estate and finance, Tom has worked in numerous areas ranging from corporate governance to litigation, member and guest matters to property sales and acquisitions, and pretty much every issue faced by small businesses in the hospitality industry. Specific deals include the sale of the $1.5B company, debt financing of over $600M, and handling threatened litigation by an ex-NFL record holding running back over his lost watch on a driving range. Tom's ability to balance the legal requirements with business sense makes him a highly sought after resource to club clientele. The details include a Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Taxation from University of Southern California and a BBA(Accounting) from Southern Methodist University. He lives in Richardson, Texas with his wife Janice. Rand Huguely - Partner: Rand has nearly 10 years of experience in all areas of club law, including membership (documents, programs and disputes), operational agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, real estate, and employment. Rand represented ClubCorp from 1999 through 2007, serving both as outside counsel and in-house as Senior Associate Counsel and Chief Legal Officer. For 2004 and 2005, he was a recipient of ClubCorp’s “SuperSTAR Award,” a recognition of outstanding excellence and service. In 2006, Rand was honored to receive the “All STAR Award,” a specially created distinction to recognize his status as the first home office employee to receive three consecutive “SuperSTAR” awards. Rand graduated from Vanderbilt Law School in 1996, and he holds a B.A. in History and Government from Western Kentucky University. Prior to entering law school, Rand worked as a sportscaster in Kentucky. Sports, history and politics are among his many interests. Rand lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife, his two daughters, and his prized possessions—a Titans jersey signed by Vince Young and a baseball autographed by John Smoltz, Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux. Dick Cassidy - Of Counsel: After ten years of general, litigation practice, Dick began to concentrate on club law in 1984, a concentration that has continued to this date. Dick served for years as outside counsel and more recently, moved to an in-house counsel position. For the last twenty years, Dick has specialized in the various areas of employment law as they crop up in the private club industry, including FMLA, discrimination, wage and hour, immigration, and the like. Additionally, Dick has done a good deal of work in membership disputes, including discrimination claims, theft/loss claims, tee time claims, and similar disputes.
The normal yada yada stuff includes an undergraduate degree from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) in Economics, a masters degree from Miami University, again in Economics, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University. Dick lives in Addison, Texas, with his wife, Ellen, and enjoys sports in general, with a particular fetish for the little Dallas Cowboys, as well as reading and writing. 'Rithmatic? Not so much. Disdaining natural health and sustainable living information along with blah blah blah about the Titans and sundry washed up Braves pitchers, the rest of Dick's time is consumed by explaining to the paparazzi that he is not, in fact, George Clooney.
