NFL Picks - Game Rules
Each player has a mythical 50 dollars to wager each week on NFL pointspreads and/or the over/unders (total combined points). Lines are taken from the Dallas Morning News. The minimum bet per game is 10 dollars, and bets must be made in increments of 10 (i.e., $10, $20, $30, etc.). The maximum number of bets per week is 5. Players may bet any combination (examples: 5 ten dollar bets, 1 fifty dollar bet, 2 ten dollar bets and 1 thirty dollar bet, 2 twenty dollar bets and 1 ten dollar bet, and so on).
Players may not bet on the same bet, although they may bet on the same game. For instance, if Tom bets on Pittsburgh to cover the spread against Baltimore, Dick cannot also bet on Pittsburgh to cover the spread. However, Dick can bet on Baltimore to cover, or bet on the over or the under for that game. The player in last place at the end of the previous week gets first choice in making a pick for the next week. However, a higher amount can trump the draft position. So, say that Dick is leading, Tom is in second, and Rand is last. If Rand does not want to make a 50 dollar bet, the option passes to Tom. If Tom passes on making a 50 dollar bet, the option passes to Dick. If Dick steps out and makes a 50 dollar pick, then he gets to take the first bet off the board. Then the option goes back to Rand to make a 40 dollar bet, and so on.
The player with the most mythical money at the end of the year (or the player who is the least far into the hole) wins. Then we do it all over again in the playoffs.
